rosehip oilAhh rosehip oil. I’m not overstating it when I tell you that I have a deeply passionate relationship with this luscious elixir (as such, I’ve written about it multiple times, namely when chatting about skincare oils and tricky skin situation solutions.. told ya, totally obsessed). I wouldn’t be afraid to say that it’s one of my ‘if you were marooned somewhere hellish, for example, a traffic island in the middle of a motorway and could only take 3 things what would they be’ list. I rate it THAT highly.

What’s so spesh about this little miracle worker. Sit back and let lay some knowledge on ya..

  • It’s rich in essential fatty acids, with some brands having up to 80% of the good stuff. Why is this amaze? Well apart from the fact that EFA’s protect cells from damage like nobodies business, rebuild those that have already been exposed to skin-hating nasties and reduce the signs of ageing, they also give you that coveted ‘lit from within’ glow.
  • It soothes sore spots. I have reactive skin (meaning I flush a delicate shade of beetroot post exercise, waxing, scrubbing… you get the picture). Calming the raging beast beneath my skin can be tricky BUT rosehip is a sure fire winner. A couple of drops to my tomato face and I’m smugly laughing all the way to the bus stop with my no-longer pink face.
  • It’s completely and utterly natural (and usually organic). My fave brands, which I shall reveal shortly, are all 100% organic. This means no yucky stuff, just the ‘hips man. Certified organic beauty prodz can also brag about the fact that they haven’t been tainted with pesticides, herbicides, anything-acides at any stage in their production. High five to that.
  • It treats, moisturises and balances. As a beauty gal, past skincare regimes have seen me slather no less than five separate products on my face to treat problems, prevent dryness and create overall happy skin. With rosehip, a few drops and I’m done. That is literally ALL I put on my face the majority of the week. You can’t beat it for effectiveness.

So after reading all that, there’s a good chance you want to jump right outta your seat and bolt to your nearest purveyor of rosehippy goodness. I don’t blame you! While there’s a whole load of prodz on the market now, I’ve got three that I love to the moon and back and will always return to. I can vouch for each and every one of them as I’ve not only used em’ all, I’ve returned again and again to the same slew.Without further ado, welcome the dream team.

Antipodes Divine Face Oil Organic Avocado Oil And Rosehip, $33.00
To say I love this product range would be an understatement. I freakin’ adore it. The most beautiful, nourishing, completely organic range that literally makes you feel like your bathroom is a high end spa. This is especially impressive in my bathroom with the Big W shower curtain that jostles for space with the red plastic tug boat that holds the plethora of bath toys my son seems to believe are essential for tub time. I was recently introduced to their Divine Face Oil and it is quickly becoming one of my faves of all time. Organic avo oil mingled with rosehip to create the most beautifully textured oil. I alternate using this with one of the below and my skin has never looked back.

Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, $21.95
An oldie but a goodie! Trilogy was the very first Rosehip I was introduced to and I’ve never really strayed far from it’s glorious grasp. It’s 100% pure, with 80% EFA content and fantastic spreadability (very important when you’re choosing a facial oil).

A’kin Pure Radiance Rosehip Oil, $19.95
Another old fave. A’kin make some fabulous, organic products (I’m a huge fan of their Alchemy Hair Care range and PureBaby products as well) with affordable price points which is always a big bonus. This little bottle is filled to the brim with certified organic rosehip, along with vitamins A and E to pack on extra antioxidant punch.

Sukin Certified Organic Rosehip Oil, $19.95
I’m a huge fan of the Sukin range in general and was ecstatic when they brought out an organic rosehip oil. Cold pressed, packed full of fatty acids and with a great price point to boot, it’s the ideal first foray into the wonderous world of rosehip.

There you have it peeps. Your daily skincare wrapped up in the neat little package.

    I love Rosehip Oil.
I use Sukin. It is cheap. I can get it at the chemist. And I swear it leaves me looking more refreshed than I feel!
