Q: What’s the dealio with this mineral makeup bizzness?

Unless you’ve been inhabiting a separate universe from the rest of us, the words ‘mineral makeup’ have probably crossed your radar. What was once a kinda new product that only a handful of brands were producing, has become a massive mover and shaker in the makeup market.

I wouldn’t blame you if it all seemed too confusing and you felt a strong need to flee back into your tube of tinted moisturiser. I feel you. Mineral makeup was once a category I was a bit wary of myself. I’m generally a liquid gal myself and the vast majority of mineral makeups came in the form of either a pressed or translucent powder. Eeeeep, scary.

That was until I went through a highly annoying phase about 8 months back with my skin where it seemed to react to EVERYTHING. My theory is that months of product testing and chopping and changing between brands and preparations sensitised my poor old face and left it begging for mercy.

While I could have gone completely makeup free, a gal needs options and so I dipped my toe into the mineral market. And I was impressed with what I found.

Mineral makeup was pretty much designed for the sensitive of skin amongst us. There’s a reason its sometimes known as the makeup that actually helps IMPROVE skin while its being worn. Generally, it’s formulated with a whole bunch of skin-loving ingredients designed to soothe, repair AND gently cover. While my skin has returned to normal, I’m still partial to using a palette of the mineral stuff, especially when I’m after a really flawless finish.

You can imagine my joy then when one of my favourite brands on the whole entire planet, Antipodes, released its very own Mineral Foundation. Oh the glee I felt in my heart. I’ve featured Antipodes products quite a few times here at (Not) Just A Mummy, and with good reason. The brand manages to marry beautiful, organic ingredients with amazing effectiveness to create products that pure, natural and great for your skin. One of the biggest complaints people used to have with organic skincare ranges was that the products, while ticking all the right boxes ingredient wise, just weren’t as good as their traditional counterparts. Antipodes has righted that wrong.

Getting back on the foundation track, their Performance Plus Mineral Foundation with SPF 17 lives up to the extremely high expectations I have for the brand. It’s packed full of ingredients that refuse to irritate even the most sensitive, reactive skin (trust me, I TRIED to provoke em’ into causing a flare up but to no avail) and provides the kind of flawless yet not cakey coverage that is the trademark of mineral foundations. In plain terms, this powder stuff makes your skin look like your skin but heaps better.

Now for the exciting part… Antipodes, being the legends that they are, have kindly provided THREE Performance Plus Packs (valued at $109.85!) that include everything you need for an amazing complexion (especially great for the partay season).

Each pack contains:
– Performance Plus Mineral Foundation
– Performance Plus Skin-Brightening Mineral Finishing Powder (can be applied over the top of your foundation to curb shiny spots)
– Natural Hair Kabuki Brush (the perfect brush to apply for foundation and powder and eliminate any telltale foundation creases)

To enter, all you need to do is answer the following question:

Why does your skin need a visit from the Antipodes Mineral Makeup fairy?

Just answer in the comments below.

I have always had horrible sensitive skin, ever since I was young. I’ve always had to watch what products I use for fear of breaking out in a horrible bright red itchy rash. Usually my safest option is to go without makeup so something like this would be ideal for me to try

Since falling pregnant with #2 (“Dos” as we like to call the bump) my skin has gone to blotch town and can’t find it’s way home. I’ve always been blessed with great skin and suddenly I find myself with red cheeks and pimples springing up next to the wrinkles and bags under my eyes. Not fair – you can’t have both! I’ve tried everything and would love to give Antipodes mineral make up a go to see if I can look half decent again.

I am a mascara and lip gloss girl. I have always found make up utterly confusing. I have made some tentative forays into makeup but all were misguided failures. Please Antipodes Fairy – visit me!

I have to admit, I am pretty useless when it comes to makeup. I would be embarrassed for you to see how old some make up I have is. Please make up fairy- save me from myself (and from the bacteria that I’m sure is lurking on my out of date foundation!

I could really use some help with my skin at the moment. I’m five months pregnant with no 3 and my skin is misbehaving like a toddler after a party spent drinking red cordial. I feel very blah and would love to feel special & gorgeous for even five minutes!

I’m 35 and the years are starting to reveal themselves on my skin (not to mention the influence my three kidlets have on it!). I’m not a make-up wearer, but need to start doing something to make me look like I’m glowing rather than the weary, pale and pasty person I have become. I will do anything not to look like I’ve been up all night with my four month old……mineral make-up sounds like the way to go – quick, easy and effective.

The Antipodes mineral fairy needs to come & visit me to give me a gentle but firm scolding as I’ve been straying from mineral foundation lately & my skin has suffered. I’ve forgotten the reasons I went mineral to begin with & now after weeks of reusing & trying to ‘use up’ my regular foundations & BBs I had in my stash, my skin is a hot mess again ; congested, broken out, agitated. I’ll never stray again mineral fairy, I promise.

My skin is as dry as the Sahara desert, so I’ve
always felt that mineral powders aren’t right for my skin type.
I’d love antipodes to prove me wrong!

Hi have struggled with acne and eczema since I was around 11 and find that any make up I try just seems to aggravate my skin.

My skin responds best to natural makeup and I feel so much better when I choose that route! Unfortunately, it seems like natural is equivalent to expensive…and that is a big deterrent. I would absolutely love to win this makeup so I feel confident and glowy while nourishing my skin as well!

My skin needs help. I have large pores, blotchy red sensitive areas, sunspots, big puffy bags from my toddler waking 4+ times a night, not to mention zits. I’m looking into getting myself te antipodes skin care range for myself for Xmas. This would be an awesome bonus! 🙂

I have tried many foundations but didn’t get the desired results. My skin starts getting rough after applying foundation. I am really keen to try this mineral foundation and I wish it suits me.

I have terrible sensitive skin that breaks out in acne rashes when I wear the wrong thing. I don’t wear a lot of make up and prefer natural make up and a natural look when I do. I can’t afford to try natural make ups as well as skin care but I would really love to be able to try this make up out!

I have had severe acne in the past and was left with awful scars and marks. Anitpodes cleansers have been wonderful in helping me clear up my skin but for everyday use, a mineral foundation from a brand that I know and trust would be amazing just to conceal the marks. I am so self-conscious about my skin and have been battling confidence issues for a while. A visit from from the Antipodes Fairy would be amazing and the best Christmas present present ever!

A visit from Antipodes is very much needed here as I am 30 weeks pregnant and my skin is reacting to everything I put on it. Not being able to wear make-up out and to work is killing me but with a baby on the way and savings low I can’t afford to try every sensitive skin product on the shelves. Please help! ;p

Hand on my heart, antipodes has honestly given my skin a much needed boost and has addressed my skin care issues like sensitivity and redness. So much so, that I don’t feel I have to put on a heavy foundation any more. I would love to win the mineral foundation to blur the little imperfections I do have whilst still maintaining my skins natural look, without it being too heavy or cakey!

I have tried so many different brands and still haven’t found one that works well with my skin without it breaking out. I would love the a visit from the Antipodes mineral fairy to sort that problem out for me.

My skin needs some Antipodes mineral foundation desperately! Everything I have tried lately just doesn’t have very good coverage and if it does it too heavy and leaves my skin feeling terrible.
Plus it would be a lovely birthday surprise! 🙂
