tinted moisturiserI love a good list. Give me a pen and paper (or the ‘notes’ app on my iPhone these days) and i’m a happy woman. I’ve never met a list I didn’t like. In fact, I recently found a couple of cuties that I’d made before having Ollie hat detailed the very important things that I’d need to pack for the hospital and buy before his arrival. The list made for some hilarious reading, I must say.

That however, is a different story BUT it did remind me of my love affair with words stacked vertically beneath them and after being asked repeatedly while away recently for my tinted moisturiser recommendations, I thought I’d combine these two sexy minxes into one AHMAZE blogpost.

There’s a lot of talk these days about BB creams (and even CC creams.. I’ll leave THAT for another post) BUT when going back to beauty basics, I personally don’t think you can go past a really good tinted moisturiser. Show me a gal who hasn’t tried one and i’ll show you.. something (a liar? A beacon of perfect skin? I’m not 100% certain).

All are not created equal however and some definitely score higher than others when it comes to sun protection, consistency, colour range and general deliciousness.

I’ve tried my fair share over the years and consistently return to one of these babies. They work hard, do what they say on the pack, and are generally a delight to have in the bathroom.

Laura Mercier Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser  – I’ve banged on about this lil lady before (here, here AND here in case you were wondering) but to reiterate.. Great SPF (20+), fabulous, light, dewy coverage with just enough sheen (without being ‘glittery’ I HATE glittery) and great spreadability. Big thumbs up!

Dr Lewinns Facial Moisturising Lotion ($49.95) – I’ve also mentioned my regular dalliances with this schmick white tube before here (and here) BUT I couldn’t write a list without including this good time gal. A little sheerer and more matte than Laura, this is my go-to, everyday essential, especially as the SPF is a spiffy 30+. If you need a slightly heavier coverage, DL might not be for you but if you’re an light and breezy gal, look no further.

Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector All-In-One BB Cream ($13.95)– Not STRICTLY a tinted moisturiser BUT it does pretty much the same thing (actually, a BB does a little more.. what a trooper) and I am a huge fan of one of the original prodz to hit our shores. Reactions to this guy are sometimes mixed but I’ve always found the light coverage and skin tone adaptability rather excellent. I also like the half matte/half dewy finish. The SPF is a little low for my liking but can be bumped up (I use Dermalogica Solar Booster SPF 50+ when I need a little extra sun protection.)

Which one of these tinted moisturisers would you say has the best colour range? I have very fair skin and find most brands only have a small handful of colours.

      Hi Alice!

I’m also very fair and find the Dr Lewinns works great with my skin. In terms of colour range though, I reckon Laura Mercier. I think last time I checked there were four or five different shades?
